New law in Portugal makes citizenship easier for Brazilians

The Portuguese government has made changes to the Portuguese citizenship application process that will benefit Portuguese grandchildren and spouses.

According to the Correio Braziliense portal, the change was expected since 2020, when the Portuguese Nationality Law was amended. Now, grandchildren will be able to apply for nationality directly, not requiring the parents to have the right in advance or proof of a link in the country.

With these changes, it is expected that more people will seek to obtain the European passport.
