IRS ha anunciado el pasado miércoles (9) la suspensión de más de una docena de cartas adicionales, una de ellas el envío de los avisos de cobro automatizados que normalmente se remiten cuando un contribuyente debe impuesto adicional y el IRS no tiene registro de que el contribuyente haya presentado el impuesto sobre la renta.
Según el IRS, estos envíos incluyen los avisos de saldo pendiente y los avisos de declaraciones de impuestos no presentadas. El IRS inició esta temporada de presentación con varios millones de declaraciones originales y rectificadas que han sido presentadas por ciudadanos y empresas que no fueron procesadas debido a los problemas derivados de la pandemia de coronavirus. Se adopta esta medida para evitar la confusión de los contribuyentes y los profesionales de impuestos
El organismo añadió que estos avisos automáticos se han interrumpido temporalmente hasta que se solucione este inconveniente, y que la Secretaría de Hacienda seguirá evaluando el inventario de devoluciones del año anterior para determinar el momento adecuado para reiniciar los avisos.
Es posible que algunos contribuyentes y profesionales del área fiscal sigan recibiendo los avisos durante la próxima semana, pero en la mayoría de los casos no es necesario responder al aviso porque el IRS seguirá procesando las declaraciones de impuestos del año anterior. Si el contribuyente o el profesional juzgan necesaria la respuesta, pueden adoptar medidas para asegurar el bienestar del contribuyente.

IRS ha informado que no tiene autoridad para interrumpir todos los avisos, ya que muchos son obligatorios dentro de un plazo determinado.
