Consumers in Brazil can file complaints on an international whistleblower platform

Consumers in Brazil can now file complaints regarding conflicts and fraud that took place abroad, including tourism. Registrations can be made in Portuguese through the Econsumer platform.

The platform has agencies from over 40 countries to respond to the challenges of internet fraud and improve consumer confidence. In Brazil, the agency is the National Consumer Secretariat (SENACON).

Among the issues to make a complaint are: jobs and income; travel and vacations; telemarketing and spam; scams such as lottery, sweepstakes or prizes.

According to Agência Brasil, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security informed that through the website “the Brazilian consumer will be able to receive guidance on additional measures they can adopt to solve their problem and tips on how to avoid the most practiced scams and frauds”.
