Drummond Advisors Miami office receives StartSe Mission

Posted by on

On Thursday, November 18, the Drummond Advisors Miami office hosted the 1st edition of the StartSe Mission: Miami, event with the participation of 11 Brazilian entrepreneurs who are looking to internationalize their businesses and live in the United States.

The city of Miami is named as the next Silicon Valley and has been attracting more and more startups and investors to its ecosystem. The action marked the launch of a series of meetings that Drummond Advisors and  StartSe  should promote in partnership in the coming months.

Felipe Giannetti, partner at StartSe, opened the lecture. Louanni Cesario, Senior Lawyer on the Business Immigration team at Drummond Advisors, spoke about the most common US visa types for entrepreneurs and investors. Michel de Amorim, partner at Drummond Advisors, discussed the stages of internationalization for companies and investments and presented information on taxation in the USA.

Miami: Silicon Valley 2.0

“COVID-19 brought transformations for everyone. With the closure of regions like New York and California, many started to see the state of Florida as an alternative, since here the effects of the pandemic were smaller when compared to other places in the US. In this context, people started visiting Miami and seeing the entrepreneurial potential that the city offers, not only for the startup market, but also for cryptocurrencies”, explains Felipe Giannetti.

The main objective of Mission StartSe is to help businesspersons in Brazil who have an eye on the North American market to plan and carry out internationalization. “Drummond Advisors’ mission is to enable and facilitate international transactions. We’re here to help anyone who plans to expand to the US, regardless of what stage the operation is in. Among our success stories, we can cite StartSe, Vtex, Aeris, among others. Since we started operating in 2010, we have already helped to internationalize more than 2,000 clients. It is an immense pleasure for us to be able to be at StartSe’s side in this very important initiative for the Miami innovation market, which is heated and continues to grow rapidly”, says Michel de Amorim.

Visa Types for the US

Regarding the immigration process, Louanni Cesario highlights the importance of choosing the right visa. “There is a specific visa for transferring executives with specialized knowledge, which is the case of the L-1. There is also the E-2, a temporary work visa that allows people from countries that are part of the treaty with the United States to enter the country legally after investing in an American company. The range of possibilities is wide, so it is important to remember that each case is different. We help those who are applying for a visa to identify which type is most suitable for that specific situation”, comments the specialist.
